Pets of the Week: Buckshot and Starlight
Happy Easter from the Dog Lover and all of the caregivers and especially Director Rea Cord and volunteers at the Elmore County Humane Shelter in Wetumpka.
It seems that larger dogs are in the offerings for adoption and forever-loving homes. If you prefer the big ones, you are in luck as there are plenty of personalities, sweethearts and types from which to chose.
Buckshot is a male hound, about 2 years old and 60-70 pounds. He was found as a stray, and no one ever came to claim him. He is a goofy boy, very happy and friendly, and he is good with other dogs. Buckshot did have a minor gunshot wound that was treated and is long healed. Possibly that’s why he has such the well-matched “fitting” name of Buckshot. This goofball would love a forever home with your loving family.
Starlight is a female American pit bull terrier, and she is about 2 years old and 60-70 pounds. She also was found as a stray that no one came to claim. It is amazing to me that a person could raise a dog until they are fully grown and then just throw them out on the street! Unfortunately, this happens quite a lot to innocent animals.
Starlight is a very friendly girl, good with male dogs and loves everyone. She has a medium level of energy and is happy to hang out with her person. Starlight would love to be in a forever home with you, coming complete with her black and white tuxedo costume to stay sharp looking. As you may guess, I personally really like the black and white mix in pets; they always seem to keep the white part so clean, even the cats.
Maybe one of these gems would interest you or another that the shelter is caring for at this time. If you would like to meet any of the pets, you just need a completed accepted application, then an appointment will be set up to visit any or all pets available for adoption. You can call for an application from the shelter at 334-567-3377 or email hselco@bellsouth.net.
Adoption for dogs is still a deal at $100 and includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies shot, de-worming, all basic vaccinations, and a free first visit with your vet.
Until next time,
The Dog Lover
