Area residents and passersby alike enjoy lunch and perusing rummage sale items at Equality Volunteer Fire Department’s monthly fundraiser. The department hosts the fundraiser on the first Saturday of each month, roughly from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. A rummage sale is held on site from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a wide variety of items available to peruse and purchase. A bake sale featuring an assortment of treats begins at 8 a.m. Lunch is available from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and with it guests can get a hamburger, cheeseburger or hot dog plate; including chips, drink and dessert; for $7 each. With all three portions of the monthly fundraiser, all proceeds go directly to benefit the volunteer fire department. It is held at the old fire station by Quality gas station on Alabama Highway 9 in downtown Equality. Additionally, tomorrow, April 9, the community is holding a clean-up day at the lodge from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Area residents are encouraged to come out and help clean up and move things around at the lodge.
