The Buzz
Buzzy the Buzzard
Okay, candidates, where’s the beef? The primary is about two months away. In our local mono-party system, the primary is the decider. And there have been no ads in “The Coosa County News” explaining why you are running. Do you want us to care…or not?
Now we all know that “The News” is a readers’ paper. Between Ms. Christa’s extensive local coverage, detailed meeting reports, and the many and varied columns it carries, the news gets read. Even my extended buzzard family is well informed and has something to talk about over dinner.
Drive-by yard signs promote name recognition. TV doesn’t cover here. Print ads are the best means to let voters know where you stand.
Where do you stand? Are you just running to fill a position? Just running because you are an incumbent? Just running for a paycheck? Or do you want to serve, to mean something, to improve the county, or even to maintain the status quo?
Now that spring and daylight saving time have come, candidates will likely begin their traditional house-to-house visits. Good luck! With the terrible county roads and the awful town streets, your cars will take a beating. And with gas prices as they are, your wallet will, too.
Talk to us in print. In the meantime, I’ll be your eye in the sky.
Love,
Buzzy
