Rosie’s Ramblings
Rosie Morgan
I must share a belated birthday wish to Christine Owens. She turned 88 years young on March 8, and she now lives in Sylacauga. Mrs. Owens has recently contributed to the Coosa Cooks recipe section of “The Coosa County News,” and her recipes have been old-timey country cookin’. Those “full of goodness” ones that many folks don’t bother with these days. Mrs. Christine, here’s wishing you a year filled with joyful happy events and good heath.
Ron’s cousin, known as “Bubba” for years, was chosen as a member for Bear Bryant’s football team. Then they married and brought up children in Alex City. John and Dianne Moore will celebrate 56 years together on March 12.
It was springlike for certain earlier this week, and now the weather folks say it may be down to freezing again by the weekend. Maybe it will be that last late freeze before Easter, when it’s safe to plant veggie seeds outside. I still plan to try some veggies in pots on the porch at the sunny edge where they should do quite well. It is such an accomplished feeling when plants shoot up and later produce vegetables that you can eat straight from the garden.
On my way to pick up my dog Bama’s thyroid pills last week, I was in line to turn left from U.S. Highway 280, and at the front were two cars; one apparently had crashed into the other from behind. While I waited for the green turn light, the police arrived. When another car comes from the back, there’s nothing you can do, and it’s usually a shock when you feel the bump.
The dogs have been eager to get out into their fenced yard during the warm late afternoons, and a couple of times it has been to run alongside the fence with white-tailed deer on the other side. They are quite prolific around here; must be the young ones leading the babies for food and water.
The thought of gasoline increases every day is disastrous for us all. We all have to be able to get around, especially those of us that live in the rural countryside. Just can’t imagine where President Biden’s brain is, possibly in the same place as Putin’s. To shut down our gas lines already being built, which would have made us oil efficient, and gas much cheaper at our pumps. If we had done what President Trump had suggested (because he is a great businessman), we would have gotten our gas lines working and use our own gasoline, which would be plentiful and very cheap compared to today, meanwhile selling gasoline to other countries to make excellent profits.
Food prices would naturally go down, and all other expenses would be reasonable. Everyone knows how expensive it is at the grocery. If we closed the border in our south and stopped giving those that come in immediate welfare, health insurance, et cetera, and much more that the average American doesn’t get, as they’re continually scraping by and cutting back.
The Ukrainian people are well educated, strong, hard working, and family loving, not deserving of being bombed out of their homes. Please pray for European peace.
There are times when encouragement means such a lot. And a word is enough to convey it.
