Special to the News
On Wednesday, February 23, the Town of Goodwater swore in its new police chief, Corey Shaw.
Shaw comes to Goodwater most recently from the Town of Rockford where he served as chief of police for a number of years. Shaw has also had a long career in the military.
Shaw hit the ground running in the department, laying out needed training for officers and needed programs such as a reserve program, public relations initiatives and crime prevention measures.
He is also asking for citizens’ help in fighting and investigating crimes, as well as helping to make the community better. His favorite inspiration is, “One Fight, One Team, One Prayer Changes Everything.”
Mayor Lonnie Caldwell said he is excited about the positive changes that Chief Shaw has already instituted within the department.
Shaw was sworn in by Goodwater Fire Chief and Notary Public Elmore Unbehant.
