Poplar Point Camp opens registration for summer camp

Special to the News

Poplar Point Camp in Hanover has opened its registration for summer camp 2022, and the camp had some new options for campers and families.

For the first time, they will be doing a “Taste of Camp” experience for parents or campers who are nervous about going to camp for the first time. It will be a two-night full camp experience so that everyone can know what camp is like.

Additionally, in 2022, Poplar Point will be offering a “Family Camp,” July 2-4, that is designed for families (from birth to 100-plus years old) to come to camp together as a family. Grandparents or parents can come along with campers and have a great time as a family playing games, sleeping in cabins as a family and growing closer together.

The camp is also adding a full third week of camp. This year the week’s themes include “Wacky Camp Week,” June 5-10, where campers are going to get a chance to do unusual to wacky fun activities from playing with snow in the summer and launching rockets to dressing up in their wackiest outfit.

June 12-17 will be the “Game of Games Week,” where everything will be built around games and challenges from traditional camp games to board games and water games.

Then finally, June 19-24 will be the water week, called “Wet and Wild Week.” If you can play it with water, they will be doing it from balloons to slides to snow cones, it will happen this week.

Amanda Fincher, a Hanover resident whose daughter enjoys camp at Poplar Point, said, “Poplar Point Camp is a golden nugget hidden in Coosa County. Travis and Elizabeth Milhan are exceptional people you can trust to take good care of your children.”

Her child and former camper, Lily, said, “I loved camp! I loved playing laser tag!”

The best prices for 2022 summer camp will be found until February 15 with the early-early bird prices. Individuals can lock in the best price with a $100 deposit.
