A Sylacauga woman was arrested last month on drug-related charges following a routine traffic stop.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that Deputy Travis Ward was on routine patrol on County Road 511 near County Road 49 when he conducted a traffic stop. He discovered that the driver, Kimberly Jo Palmer, had a warrant for child support.
Upon conducting a search of the vehicle for inventorying, Ward found a black box containing 19 grams of a crystal-like substance found to be methamphetamine, as well as drug paraphernalia.
Palmer, 31 years old, was arrested December 8 on the charges of distribution of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and writ of arrest for child support.
Palmer’s total bond was set at $13,000. As of press time she remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
