The Goodwater Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce the winners of its 2021 Christmas tree decorating contest.
First place winner is Carlow Simmons, second place is Donna Calhoun, and third place is Jake Gokey. Each winner received a trophy.
The Goodwater Parks and Rec had more than 30 participants join in for the contest that was held for the community and surrounding areas. Originally planned to be an outdoor contest, Goodwater Parks and Rec Director Sharonna Hayes said that because of some conditions they changed it to a social media Christmas tree decorating contest.
Participants shared photos on the department’s Facebook page of them with their decorated Christmas trees, and three winners were then chosen out of the 30-plus entries.
With the great success of this event, Hayes was excited to announce that Goodwater Parks and Rec will be hosting the Christmas tree decorating contest every year.
Additionally, she said they will also be hosting yard decorating contests every year for the community. Area residents are encouraged to keep their eyes out for more information as those are announced.
Goodwater Parks and Rec is not stopping there, as it also has another event planned for next month.
It will be hosting a Black History Month Program on February 25 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Goodwater gymnasium. The program will include choirs, entertainment, a special speaker, and more.
Everyone is encouraged to come out for this family-friendly event sponsored by Goodwater Parks and Rec. For more information on the program, upcoming events, or center programs, contact Goodwater Parks and Rec at 256-743-1252.
