January 13
The Coosa County Extension Office will host a 2022 Private Pesticide Applicator Training/Testing class on January 13 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. These classes are designed for farmers who need to take the private pesticide applicator test to purchase restricted-use products. However, they will include discussion of chemical safety and sprayer calibration at this class, so anyone who sprays pesticides on a large scale will benefit from this training. Call the Extension Office at 256-377-4713 to make your reservation. A fee of $20 will be charged for this training and testing. Please plan to pay with a check made out to the Alabama Cooperative Extension System for $20. Participants must bring and wear a face mask in accordance with COVID-19 guidelines.
January 17
There will be an MLK Day sponsored by The Goodwater Ministerial Alliance on January 17, 2022, beginning with a march at 9 a.m. March from downtown to the Goodwater auditorium with a program beginning at 11 a.m. For more information contact Rev. January 20
District 2 County Commissioner Bertha K. McElrath is hosting a town hall meeting to discuss Vell’s Lounge and gain input from constituents in her district. The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. January 20 at the Goodwater Community Center.
Weekly
The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Quarterly
The Hanover Neighborhood Watch Meeting is held quarterly, typically on the third Tuesday of the month, at the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department building at 6:30 p.m. The spring meeting will be held the third Tuesday in March, the summer meeting on the third Tuesday in June, and the fall meeting on the third Tuesday in September. The winter meeting will be held in December, with the date to be determined at the fall meeting. Always a potluck meal before the meeting begins, and sometimes a special program to follow. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. Y’all come!
