Richville Rundown
Sheila Ward
I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas since there will be no paper next week. Hearing about all the devastation last Friday night from the tornadoes changes your perspective on your bad experiences. Having a rough Friday and really the entire weekend seemed insignificant compared to what these people are dealing with. All in all, my family and I were safe, had a warm house, good car to drive, and food to eat.
Everyone is invited to Providence Baptist Church’s Christmas program. We will have “Christmas in Song” Sunday night, December 19, at 6 p.m. Afterward, we will fellowship with finger foods. So, if you don’t have plans, come sing and fellowship with us.
Luke 2:4-7 reads, “Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”
Have you ever thought about Mary and Joseph as just ordinary people? They had no superpowers. Can you imagine how Mary and Joseph must have felt as they searched for a place to stay? Just think how frustrated Joseph must have been to be unable to find a room. Mary must have been so tired after the journey. Then to give birth to this baby that was God’s Son. We know the angel had visited her and Joseph to tell them that this was a special baby, but did they really understand what that meant? Mark Lowery wrote a song called “Mary, did you Know?” as a conversation asking Mary if she realized the significance about Jesus’ birth and life. Something to ponder!
Continue to keep those who have lost loved ones recently in your prayers. There are several in our community that are not feeling well, and others have family that are having health issues. Please pray for their healing in God’s will. God knows their names and needs.
Until next time, take care and be joyful!
Organizations in the area, as well as churches, I need your events! If your family has some news or an event to share, please contact me. I would prefer text to 334-414-7147 or emails to wardgrand6@gmail.com, but phone calls will be fine, too. If you don’t get me when you call, be sure to leave a message.
