A Talladega man was arrested on two drug-related charges Sunday after a routine traffic stop.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that Deputy Ward conducted a traffic stop at U.S. Highway 231 and County Road 68 in the Stewartville area. Ward smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
He proceeded to conduct a search of the vehicle and found marijuana and four pills. Ragland was arrested and charged with first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance for the four pills, which were Percocet and Oxycodone.
Ragland’s marijuana charge was escalated to first degree because he had a prior conviction for second-degree possession of marijuana.
His total bond was set at $11,000. He has since been released on bond to await trial.
Anyone who suspects or observes illegal activity is encouraged to report it to the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922 or online at www.coosacountyso.org. Anonymous tips are also welcome.
