Positive results for students in ACT prep class
Central High School implemented an ACT prep class for the last 20 minutes of the day for all students this year. Some students were also given the option of taking a full 50-minute ACT prep class. Raamiah Gaddis, Brynli Mitchell and Mallory Parrish are three students who took advantage of this opportunity, and they are reaping the benefits of their extra work.
All students in the state of Alabama take the ACT in the spring of their eleventh grade year, but students can take the ACT additional times to improve their scores, which widens their opportunities for colleges and scholarships. Raamaiah, Brynli and Mallory, all three twelfth graders, recently retook the ACT with one of them increasing their science score by 5 points and two of them increasing their composite score by 5 points. These are impressive gains; according to an ACT.org document entitled “Multiple Testers,” “Students first testing as juniors demonstrated an average composite score increase of 1.1 points.”
We are proud these young ladies’ hard work has paid off for them, and we are excited to see the results of our eleventh grade student body when they test in the spring based on their work in their ACT prep classes.
Congratulations to CHS band members who made Elmore County All-County Honor Band
Nine members of the Central High School band tried out for the Elmore County All-County Honor Band, and all nine who tried out made it. We are very proud of you!
