November 5 & 12
Accordia Health is partnering with the Coosa County EMA to offer the Moderna COVID-19 booster. The booster clinic is by appointment only and will take place at the E-911 office at 66 Communication Drive in Rockford on November 5 and November 12 from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. To be eligible for the booster, it must be at least 6 months since your second dose of the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine or at least 2 months since you received the J&J COVID-19 vaccine. You must also meet one of the following criteria: be 65 years of age or older or 18 years of age or older and live in a long-term care setting, have an underlying medical condition, or work/live in a high-risk setting. To schedule an appointment for the Moderna COVID-19 booster shot, call Accordia Health at 256-245-1340 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
November 6
Weogufka Volunteer Fire and Rescue will host Open House on Saturday, November 6, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fun and education for the entire family, including meet your firefighters and first responders, the Yellow Dot Program handouts, prizes for children, climb aboard the firetruck, and more! Josh Culver’s Hot Dog Wagon is coming – $5 hot dog plates!

Equality Volunteer Fire Department will have its first Saturday fundraiser on November 6. They will have hamburgers, hot dogs, a bake sale, and rummage sale in Equality at the old fire station (by the Quality Gas Station) on Alabama Highway 9. Lunch available from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bake sale starts at 8 a.m. Rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come out and help support your local VFD!
November 7
The Weogufka Community Veteran’s Day Ceremony will be held Sunday, November 7, at 2 p.m. at the monument, located at 145 Memorial Loop, Weogufka. Please bring your own chair.
November 11
The Coosa County Annual Treasure Forest Landowner Tour will be held November 11 beginning at 8:30 a.m. on the Robinson property on County Road 93 in the Cottage Grove community. The tour will cover such topics as drones and vegetation, hardwood management, invasives, recreational trails, and herbicide safety. This is a free program. Light morning refreshments and lunch will be provided. Registration deadline is November 5. Register by calling the Coosa County Extension Office at 256-377-4713.

The Goodwater Disabled Veterans Organization will hold its Veterans Day program on November 11 at 10 a.m. at the Goodwater old school auditorium. Everyone is welcome.
November 13
J.D. Thompson Alumni Association Founders’ Day 2021: Honoring John Savage, Founder of Coosa County Training School – Saturday, November 13, at 2:30 p.m. Guest speaker: Robert Avery. Location: J.D. Thompson Alumni Building, located at 1854 County Road 93, Kellyton, 35089. J.D. Thompson Alumni Association’s Founders’ Day 2021 is set aside to “honor” John Savage, founder of Coosa County Training School.
November 18
The Coosa County Emergency Communications (E-911) Board meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, November 18, in the board room of the E-911 building on Communication Drive in Rockford. The meeting is open to the public.
December 4
Goodwater Parks and Rec will host a community-wide Christmas tree decoration competition. First, second and third place winners will be recognized. Trees should be decorated and in place by December 4. For further information please contact Sharonna Hayes at 256-743-1252.
Weekly
The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Monthly
The Hanover Neighborhood Watch Meeting is held every third Tuesday of the month at the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department building at 6:30 p.m. Always a meal before the meeting begins. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. Y’all come!

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System Food Safety Team is working hard to provide food safety information to our clients in Alabama. This year, the food safety agents will provide current information on various subjects on the first Tuesday of every month at noon. We ask you to join us LIVE @acesfoodsafety on Facebook. Questions for the “Tuesday’s Table Talk” may be submitted to www.aces.edu/go/TableTalkTuesdays. The panel will answer questions live on Facebook @acesfoodsafety. Topics are planned for the first Tuesday of each month from now through November. Upcoming topics include “Alabama Cottage Food Law” for October 5 and “Holiday Food Safety” for November 2.
