Pet of the Week: Gwen Stefani
The adoptable dog featured this week is a cutie-pie. Her name is Gwen Stefani, and she is a lab/heeler mix and 6 months old. Gwen Stefani, I just love the idea of using the full name of a pop star; what a conversation maker she will be for anyone who asks about her name.
Gwen Stefani is 6 months old and will be in the 40-45 pound range when she is fully grown.
Gwen Stefani loves tummy rubs, LOVES WATER, playing with toys, hanging outside with her people, and is a confident pup that would love to go exploring with her people. This is a great aged pup to begin personal training, and before it gets freezing cold.
The shelter in Wetumpka is still operating under the rules they started because of COVID-19; so if you are interested in seeing/meeting Miss Gwen Stefani, or any of the shelter’s residents, you will need to complete an application. When that has been approved, you can get an appointment to “see” any of the animals you would like to.
To contact the shelter, visit its website at www.elmorehumane.org, email the shelter directly at hselco@bellsouth.net, or call Shelter Director Rea Cord at 334-567-3377.
One of our dogs that came from this shelter is a Jack Russell, and he loves to jump, thank goodness not quite so much as when we first got him and he was a much younger dog. Rocky Rockstar got groomed this past week, and I asked the groomer to give him a short shave. He looks wonderful!
Rocky was always brown and white in two patches on his body and his head dark brown, but now he has all of these lovely brown spots all over his body, and they look so cute. The day we got him from the Humane Shelter we had gone to look at an older dog, and Rocky was in the same cage and jumping for all he was worth, as if to say, “Take me.”
Sometimes when you are looking at all of the sad doggy faces, one may light up as if to tell you that he/she is the “One.”
Dog fees are still the same as they have been for several years, and for $100 you will get de-worming, basic vaccinations, rabies shot if old enough, microchip, spay/neuter which is mandatory, and the first visit with your vet at no charge.
Enjoy the sunny walks and playtime with your dog.
Until next time,
The Dog Lover
