Coosa County Schools Mental Health Service Coordinator, Ms. Long, encouraged students in grades 4-12 to participate in a poster contest for National Suicide Prevention Month.
Students were allowed to utilize pictures, words, phrases, and/or quotes to convey a dynamic message that focused on suicide prevention and/or awareness. Students created posters that were creative, attractive and meaningful! Winners were treated to a pizza party sponsored by Scott and Sons Collision Repair and Ms. Long.
Elementary winners were Kalicia Davis and Kaylyn Gould, Kaydance Barker, Destinie Golden, and Perla Morales, Kyle Ballard, Rachel Carr, Ryleigh Carr, and A’maiya Jackson.
High School winners were Tamara Wells, Mariah Gilbert, Joshua McCurty, Karla Morales, Traci Cox, Kelsey McLaughlin, Reagan Cardwell, Queen Ballard, Akeelah Houston, and Shelemiah Kelly.
Central High School announces their students of the month
Seventh grader Brody Chappell is such a hard worker. Brody is very well behaved, respectful and kindhearted. He participates well in class and is always on task. Ms. Belyeu said, “Brody is a fast learner and has a great passion for learning new things.” Congratulations, Brody!
Eighth grader Katie Meeks is a wonderful student. She always gives her best, whatever the task may be. Katie is well mannered, helpful to her peers and always has such a pleasant and positive personality. She maintains superb grades. She is also a CHS cheerleader. Congratulations, Katie!
Ninth grader Roderick Graham is always attentive and interested in class and is always working hard. He displays a very mild tempered and kind-spirited attitude. Roderick is a model student, and all of his teachers speak very highly of him. Roderick is also helpful and supportive of his peers. Congratulations, Roderick!
Tenth grader Jekayla Patterson is a great student. She is extremely considerate of others. She is attentive in class and has excellent behavior and work ethic. She is determined to be successful and never gives up, even when things are challenging. Congratulations, Jekayla!
Eleventh grader Zyriah Meadows is a very sweet and kindhearted individual. She works extremely hard and maintains excellent grades. Zyriah is always on task and always willing to help others. She goes above and beyond in class, and she is respectful to all she meets. Congratulations, Zyriah!
Twelfth grader Jeiby Garcia is such a sweet young lady. She is very hardworking and very bright. She is proactive and displays great initiative. Ms. Belyue remembers when Jeiby was a student of hers in eighth grade, and she was already studying for the ACT college entrance exam. Jeiby keeps a smile on her face at all times. She is beyond helpful. Congratulations, Jeiby!
