Union Square News

Let’s be reminded that Breast Cancer Awareness Month has arrived.
Oh, what a wonderful Neighborhood Watch meeting on Monday night, including an “eat and greet” fellowship. First things first, the sheriff’s report was done, and we went from there.
We welcome our new neighbor, Mrs. Sandy Goggans, with happiness. Actually, she isn’t a new neighbor. Her husband, Carl Goggans, and his family grew up in Union Square. It’s always good that you can return home. Nothing is like home. There is a big difference between a house and a home. Welcome home, Goggans family.
Union Square has a drawing at each Neighborhood Watch meeting, and I won on Monday. What a blessing, and thank you!
Union Square meetings are every first Monday of the month, unless it’s a holiday day. We will keep you posted. However, Union Square has a Facebook page thanks to our acting president, Mr. Steve Baker, who is doing a great job.
He interviewed some Union Square neighbors, and Mr. Aaron Riggins was voted Neighbor of the Month. He deserves it. He is a kind neighbor. He and his (deceased) wife Mrs. Elsie Riggins have lived in the neighborhood more than 60 years. Mrs. Elsie was a special kind lady, also, who worked faithfully in the Square.
We appreciate the company of assistant district attorney Joe Ficquette and his beautiful and lovely wife and mother-in-law who graced the meeting so well. We are always happy to have them. They bring sunshine, even when it rains. They bring justice.
Sometimes when it rains it pours. Sometimes when it rains it’s pain. Like now, my bones are stiff and in pain (haha). It is raining so hard as I write this column. We all need a little laugh even through the pain. Thank God we can still have joy because of Him. He is our joy.
Happy birthday to my nephew Johnny Brown, Thomas Lee, and in memory of Belinda Lee. We miss her in Union Square.
We pray for our county and all ill loved ones.
