A Goodwater man was arrested last Friday on drug-related charges following a traffic stop.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that on October 1 Deputy Scott was on patrol in the Goodwater area. He proceeded to stop a vehicle for speeding.
Upon speaking with the individuals in the vehicle, Scott determined that one individual in the vehicle had a warrant from another county.
After asking the individuals to step out of the vehicle, Scott began to pat down another individual, 36-year-old Donald Hodnett of the Goodwater area.
Howell reported that during the process Hodnett came forward and admitted to having marijuana in his possession. Hodnett proceeded to pull out a bag of marijuana, which Scott found also contained crack cocaine.
Hodnett was placed under arrest on the charges of second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.
His total bond for both charges was set at $7,500. As of press time he remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
