The Town of Rockford is getting into the fall spirit with plans for Halloween festivities, including trick-or-treat and a decorating contest.
This year the events will take place on Saturday, October 30, and the focus will again be on outside trick-or-treating rather than an indoor festival because of COVID-19 safety concerns.
Rockford encourages everyone to join the town for the Trick-or-Treat on Main Street event. Trick-or-treating will take place from 5-8 p.m. October 30.
The town asks churches, residents and businesses alike to come up with their best Halloween ideas and decorate their homes, churches, storefronts, and vehicles to delight trick-or-treaters as they collect candy and goodies.
Businesses and residents participating in Trick-or-Treat on Main Street need to be located along U.S. Highway 231. Those wishing to participate are asked to visit Town Hall or call 256-377-1076 and let Town Clerk Jennifer Tindall know that they will be participating.
In addition to the traditional trick-or-treating, Rockford is also hosting a Fall Decorating Contest. All residents, businesses and groups within the town limits of Rockford are eligible to participate.
Everyone is encouraged to get creative and decorate their yard, porch, or front of their business with their best fall ideas. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.
Sign-up for the decorating contest must be completed by October 22. Judging will take place October 28, and the winners will be announced during Trick-or-Treat on Main Street October 30.
Entry forms for the Fall Decorating Contest are available at Town Hall, First Bank, Mapco, and “The Coosa County News” office. Completed forms should then be turned in to Town Clerk Tindall at Town Hall.
In addition to the town’s planned festivities for a fun-filled and safe Halloween celebration, prior to the evening of trick-or-treating a local business will also welcome guests.
Bright Beginnings Daycare, located along U.S. Highway 231 in Rockford near the Rockford United Methodist Church, is holding a Halloween Open House on Saturday, October 30, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The daycare will have Halloween activities for guests, as well as a bounce house, games, hot dogs, chips, and sodas. All are welcome to come to Open House and learn more about what the new daycare has to offer.
For more information, call the daycare office at 256-377-8055.
