A Goodwater man was arrested recently in connection with a Jacksons Gap case of theft that occurred in July.

According to Sheriff Michael Howell, on July 26, Jacksons Gap Police Department reported a vehicle stolen from that area. Police officers believed the stolen vehicle might be in Coosa County.

Howell said Deputy Fenn and Deputy Keel investigated the case and found the vehicle, a Jeep Wrangler, in the Kellyton area.

Kevin Michael Butts, 40 years old of Goodwater, was in possession of the vehicle, according to Howell. Therefore, a warrant was issued, and on August 30 Butts was arrested on the charge of first-degree receiving stolen property.

His bond was set at $10,000, and he has since been released on bond to await trial.
