Two young boys in Rockford have taken it upon themselves to help those who have helped us in significant ways.
Kaden and Carter Tindall, sons of Thomas and Jennifer Tindall, are holding a supply drive for residents at Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City. A box for donations has been set up at Rockford Town Hall, where everyone is welcome to drop off any donations.
The brothers decided for themselves to host this drive to give back to the men and women who served the nation and who may need assistance with some supplies.
Kaden, age 9, said, “I wanted to get donations for the veterans to take care of them because they took care of us. We want to repay them.”
His younger brother, 7-year-old Carter, said, “I want to help the veterans because they helped me and kept me safe.”
The list of most requested items for the Veterans Home residents includes men’s and women’s body wash (no bar soap), facial tissues in a box, men’s and women’s deodorant (no can), lotion, peanut butter crackers, cheese crackers, hot sauce, barbecue sauce, mustard, ketchup, regular soft chocolate candy, fruit cups, regular and sugar-free snack pudding cups, assorted Pringles, diet canned sodas, non-alcoholic canned beer, sugar-free single pack cookies, sugar-free soft candy and sugar-free soft chocolates, Alabama and Auburn items, assorted Velcro-closure tennis shoes of all sizes, and assorted music CDs in various genres.
Other requested items include toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, handkerchiefs, hot chocolate, K-cups, assorted board games and playing cards, gloves, and 1,000 island, balsamic, Italian and ranch dressing.
All donations are welcome and can be made at Rockford Town Hall.
There is no deadline, and the young duo will make multiple deliveries to get donated supplies to the veterans. However, the drive will go through at least Veterans Day, November 11.
