Goodwater woman arrested for domestic violence
By Christa Jennings
Rebecca Dion
A woman from the Goodwater area was recently arrested on five charges following a report of domestic violence.
Deputy Bradberry and Reserve Deputy Higginbotham responded to a call in the area of County Road 116 on August 3. Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers determined that domestic violence had indeed occurred.
Rebecca Dion, 53 years old of the Goodwater area, was arrested and brought to Coosa County Jail, where it was discovered that she had marijuana. This led to an additional charge of promoting prison contraband, a misdemeanor charge.
Also, Sheriff Michael Howell reported that while Dion was in the jail, she assaulted a corrections officer. This led to her having an assault charge added to her record.
Ultimately, Dion was charged with third-degree domestic violence, public intoxication, third-degree promoting prison contraband, second-degree possession of marijuana, and second-degree assault.
Her total bond for all charges was set at $13,000. As of press time she remained in custody at the Coosa County Jail awaiting trial.
