Community Calendar – August 6 Edition

August 7

The Equality VFD is holding its monthly first Saturday fundraiser on August 7. They will have hamburgers, hot dogs, bake sale, and rummage sale in Equality at the old fire station by the Quality Gas Station on Alabama Highway 9. Lunch will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The bake sale starts at 8 a.m., and the rummage sale is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come out and support your local volunteer fire department!

August 13

The Equality Performing Arts Center (EPAC) hosts Open Mic/Karaoke Night the second Friday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. The next Open Mic Night is August 13. All musicians may bring what they have or plug into what we have. Can do solo performances for the audience or we can just open up and jam with each other and see what happens. Music, song, standup comedy, storytelling, poetry, rock and roll, country, blues, bluegrass, gospel – only one rule, keep it family friendly! There is karaoke for those who want to sing with lyrics on the screen! All events are free and open to all ages. No cover charge, but 100% of donations go to the performers. A suggested $5 to $10 per person is greatly appreciated but not required. All are welcome to come enjoy an evening of entertainment in downtown Equality! The more the better! Coffee and fresh popcorn provided at no charge. Soft drinks, candy bars and snacks available for purchase from 50 cents to $1 each. Responsible adults may BYOB.
