Need local cooling options

 

James Spann said we were having “classic” summer weather. Interesting choice of words; a decidedly cheerful take on the typical 6-8 weeks of h-e-double-toothpicks that is Alabama summer. So hot it takes your breath away and so humid the clouds leak like an aging bladder. 

And Alabamians take a perverse pride in surviving this. Year after year. If they had any sense they would move off for the summer. The state should be empty by July 15. Except for the beaches. 

So, dear Rockford, what are our local cooling options? An ice cream parlor? A slushee truck? A community sprinkler/hydrant at the park? With all the buzz in town, someone should profit from a practical solution or two. 

I might take a flight to North Dakota. Or I might hang around, dry my feathers and be your eye in the sky. Hope the town buzz doesn’t succumb to the heat.
