Rockford woman arrested on drug charges
By Christa Jennings
Deidre Kirkland
A Rockford woman was recently arrested on two drug-related charges following a routine traffic stop.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported that on June 9 Deputy Scott was patrolling the Stewartville area. He initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 27-year-old Deidre Kirkland of Rockford.
Howell explained that while Scott conducted the traffic stop, Kirkland handed over marijuana she had in the vehicle.
Scott then proceeded to conduct a search of the vehicle and found a controlled substance, as well.
Kirkland was then arrested on the charges of possession of a controlled substance and second-degree possession of marijuana.
Her bond was set at a total of $7,500, and she has since been released on bond to await trial.
