June 1-29
The Goodwater Library’s Summer Program starts on June 1 and continues every Tuesday in June. The theme this summer is “Tails and Tales.” The program is from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the library. On June 29 Annette Bohannon will present the program.
June 7-July 19
The Summer Reading Program sponsored by the Rockford Public Library will be held on Mondays from June 7 through July 19 at 2 p.m. Specific dates are: June 7, June 14, June 21, June 28, July 12, and July 19. The program will be held at the Rockford Public Library located inside Town Hall on U.S. Highway 231. Story by Tina Clanton with Horseshoe Bend Regional Library. June 26
Rockford Summer Fest will be held Saturday, June 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Rockford! The event will include a variety of vendors, food trucks/food vendors, inflatable wet slide, bounce house, carnival games with prizes, watermelon seed spitting contest, dunking booth, and face painting. The band Bonfire will perform live at 1 p.m.! Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the music! For more information, call 256-377-1076 or 256-377-4911.

The Hanover Junior High School reunion will be held once again! The time is Saturday, June 26, in the fellowship hall at Andrew’s Chapel Methodist Church in Hanover. Visiting will begin at 5 p.m., and our covered dish meal will begin at 6 p.m. See you there!

Family Game Night and Bingo at Bibb Graves Community Center in Millerville will be held Saturday, June 26, from 5-8 p.m. Great prizes! Fun for all ages. Hot dogs, drinks and snacks for sale.
June 29
Coosa County 4-H presents “Canvas 4 Clovers,” a canvas painting event featuring local artist Megan Goniotakis Jones, on Tuesday, June 29, from 6-8 p.m. at the E-911 building in Rockford. The cost is $20, which includes supplies and a snack. Advance registration is required. All ages are welcome – youth and adults! Call the Extension Office at 256-377-4913 to reserve your spot.
July 3
The Equality VFD is holding its monthly first Saturday fundraiser on July 3. They will have hamburgers, hot dogs, bake sale, and rummage sale in Equality at the old fire station by the Quality Gas Station on Alabama Highway 9. Lunch will be available from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The bake sale starts at 8 a.m., and the rummage sale is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come out and support your local volunteer fire department!
Weekly
The Goodwater Youth Development and Recreational Center is open to the public weekly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and practice days for the travel ball team are those same days from 5 to 6 p.m. Cheerleader practice is held on Wednesdays and Fridays. Monthly
The Hanover Neighborhood Watch Meeting is held every third Tuesday of the month at the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department building at 6:30 p.m. Always a meal before the meeting begins. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. Y’all come!

The Alabama Cooperative Extension System Food Safety Team is working hard to provide food safety information to our clients in Alabama. This year, the food safety agents will provide current information on various subjects on the first Tuesday of every month at noon. We ask you to join us LIVE @acesfoodsafety on Facebook. Questions for the “Tuesday’s Table Talk” may be submitted to www.aces.edu/go/TableTalkTuesdays. The panel will answer questions live on Facebook @acesfoodsafety. Topics are planned for the first Tuesday of each month from now through November. Upcoming topics include “Drying, Pickling and Fermentation” for July 6 and “Starting a Food Business” for August 3.
