Sylacauga man dies in Coosa hit, run

A Sylacauga man was killed in a hit and run on U.S. Highway 280 Saturday night near Goodwater.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, or ALEA, the crash occurred at approximately 10:23 p.m. Saturday, June 5. The crash involved a vehicle and a pedestrian, 43-year-old Marcus Odem of Sylacauga.
ALEA reported that Odem was walking in the roadway when an unknown vehicle struck him, causing fatal injuries. Odem was pronounced deceased at the scene.
While the vehicle was initially unknown, ALEA released an update Sunday night stating that the vehicle involved in this fatal crash which left the scene is believed to be either a blue or gray 2016 to 2018 Hyundai Tuscan.
The crash occurred on Highway 280 near the 52-mile marker, approximately four miles northwest of Goodwater, in Coosa County.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is asking anyone that may have any information regarding the vehicle believed to be involved in the crash or regarding the crash itself to please call the ALEA Communication Center in Montgomery at 334-242-0700.
