VFD fundraiser successful, upcoming church activities
It’s hard to believe that it’s June! The end of school and the start of summer vacation. This school year has finally come to a close.
However, there is going to be summer school which is divided into two sessions. The first session begins June 14 with community transportation pickup and drop off. This is a free service provided by the school system, so I hope students take advantage of this program. So, if you are interested in sending your child, check it out on the website before the registration ends.
The Richville Volunteer Fire Department Boston Butt sale was a success. They want to thank everyone for their support. I can speak from experience that they did a great job cooking.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers that helped prepare, cooked and distributed the meat. They were delicious as always. The next event will be bingo night, with more details in the future. So, watch for the announcement and come out and support the fire department.
Providence, Sardis, Concord, and Union are conducting Sunday worship services. So, be sure and come out Sunday for worship. Other churches in the area are also holding services. Please let me know of upcoming plans by Monday afternoon each week so I can include in my column.
VBS is just around the corner! Providence and Sardis are having a joint VBS beginning July 25. It will be at Providence, so mark your calendar. More information will be coming.
Providence continues to have a men’s Bible Study on Thursday nights at 7 and a ladies Bible Study on Sunday afternoons at 5 or Tuesday mornings at 10:30. All are open to anyone.
I failed to mention in last week’s column that we would be celebrating Memorial Day this week. This is a special holiday that honors those military men and women that gave their lives fighting for our freedom. They left their homes and families to serve our country and never came home. Richville has several that gave that ultimate sacrifice.
This week’s scripture is Colossians 3:23-24, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
Having a good work ethic makes a huge difference in our personal lives and our influence on others. Work is important no matter what we are doing. We should give it our all. This verse reminds us that the ultimate reward comes from God.
Please continue to be in prayer for the sick in our community and to those that have lost loved ones. There are others in our community that have recently lost a loved one that we need to keep in our prayers. God knows their names and needs. Until next week, take care and be joyful!
