Salon 231 opens in Rockford
By Crystal Glenn
Driving down U.S. Highway 231 in Rockford people may notice a new business that has recently opened in town.
Salon 231 is Rockford’s newest addition and comes at the perfect time. Residents are pleased that they will no longer have to travel 40 miles round trip to get a haircut.
Jessica Solis relocated to Coosa County last March from Baldwin County. After a year working as a stay-at-home mom, Solis decided she wanted to find a way to give to her community.
Solis has 10 years experience in cosmetology, and she loves being around people.
“I like to make people feel good about themselves and to connect with people in my community,” she said.
Solis acquired a space inside what is known as the “Old Eagle’s Roost” building in town. Some fresh paint and new curb appeal has followed as Solis prepared to open her salon.
Salon 231’s opening day was May 15. For now, Solis is taking appointments only on Monday and Tuesday, and the salon is open for walk-ins Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Solis is open to scheduling appointments based on individual needs of people in the community.
Solis currently offers the following services: perms (with consultation); color (with consultation); men’s, women’s and kids’ haircuts; blow-outs; and brow-waxing. A future goal for Solis is to add manicure and pedicure services to the list.
“My hope is that I can make someone laugh at least once while they are sitting in my chair,” Solis said. “I love to be able to change someone’s day just by spending a little one-on-one time with them.”
Appointments can be scheduled by calling 251-272-2463. Visit Salon 231 on Facebook at www.facebook.com/salon231.
