Participants graduate from Sheriff’s Academy
Special to the News
On May 13, the Coosa County Sheriff’s Academy participants graduated from the Sheriff’s Academy.
This was the first class for the Sheriff’s Academy, and Sheriff Michael Howell hopes to continue providing education to the public through this program.
“We had a great group of people who attended the Sheriff’s Academy, and I hope they all took something from the program,” Howell stated.
The Sheriff’s Office will host another Sheriff’s Academy in the coming weeks. This is a 6-week program that is free for the public.
The Sheriff’s Academy is an opportunity for the residents of Coosa County to receive instructions into the world of law enforcement, the Sheriff’s Office and Alabama court systems. The class is designed to include the following topics: crime scene investigations, case law, the Alabama court system, firearms familiarization, and corrections.
Anyone who would like to attend the Sheriff’s Academy is asked to contact Shelia Thomas with the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-4922, option 4.
