In My Humble Opinion
Jodi McDade
Be part of good things coming
Another week AND another month have flown by! Next week will be June, and we will be entering hurricane season, marking the midpoint of 2021 and moving into summer. Before we know it, we will be celebrating Christmas and New Year’s.
I want to thank Ruby Johnson for the poem she shared in memory of her niece in last week’s column. Those words spoke to me, and I’m sure to anyone else who is dealing with the loss of a loved one. I’ve worried that people might think I am cold and uncaring for trying to live by that very same attitude after losing my husband – but I hope those of you who know me understand that is NOT the case.
In my opinion, the worst thing survivors can do is become bitter, full of remorse and anger, and not celebrate the life that was the person they have lost. Grief and a feeling of sadness is a constant, but so are all the wonderful memories and the knowledge that your loved one is no longer in pain – plus knowing you WILL see them again. Maybe that is where the difference in how people handle death is – with or without God. My prayers to you, Ruby, as you remember Denise!
So how is everyone dealing with the increases in prices we are seeing? I just shake my head at people who just can’t understand the source of all of this and still want to blame former President Trump. Shutting down the Keystone Pipeline and the oil industry in America has GOT to be one of the DUMBEST ideas there ever was. We don’t pick up anything that does not have a connection to fossil fuels, but these idiots – and yes, I said idiots – in Washington think they can flip a switch and turn on green energy overnight. And, THEN, while not supporting AMERICAN pipelines, the administration lifts sanctions on RUSSIA! So here we are back where we were four years ago, being dependent on foreign oil that is needed to produce the green energy these idiots (again!) so firmly believe in instead of American oil that employed hundreds of thousands of American citizens and kept the cost of products low. When Russia, Iran and Syria stop selling us oil, just where do these idiots (again, again) think we’re going to get it?
And, while I am on my soap box, I am so sick of the media and their cries for stop Asian hate, stop Black hate, stop Hispanic hate, stop Palestinian hate, and stop Muslim hate. Why does everything have to be about some GROUP and not just STOP THE HATE? None of us should hate anyone else based on skin color, country of origin, religion, or anything else, but the media and politicians are convincing the American people that we should all hate other people for some reason. And many of these American people are falling for it hook, line and sinker.
No, I don’t agree with everyone – but that shouldn’t make me hate them – we just disagree. And, we should all just learn to agree to disagree about a subject and move on to find something we do agree on. We have more in common than we sometimes want to acknowledge. And, ALL lives matter!
I am so thankful seeing this pandemic nightmare coming to an end. We have all had more than a year of our lives stolen from us by the government who have been believing so called “experts” like Dr. Fauci all this time. His stories change like most people change underwear, and NOW what a lot of us have known all along is finally being reported, he helped fund the research being done at the lab in China from where this all started.
This was an experiment gone bad or an outright attack on the world’s economy that caused the deaths of so many innocent people. I hope this administration will have the courage to investigate these allegations and prosecute those involved.
I can’t wait to see what shortage, panic, or fear-mongering tactic comes next. That’s the only way to keep our eyes away from what is really going on, keep us divided against each other and allow the government to have their way with us. And, the media is 98% now run by the government or socialist sympathizers.
I do not want to live under socialism or Marxism, but that is where we are headed unless some dramatic changes aren’t made in the in the 2022 election. Please start paying attention – compare the stories being reported by the DIFFERENT news organizations and do some research to try to find where the truth really lies. It doesn’t matter what your political, religious, or personal beliefs are; all of those will be taken away from you if we don’t change our path as Americans who love freedom.
OK – so much for this week. If you live in Rockford, sign up for the beautification work day for which Mayor White has gotten grant funds. And if you want to see improvements in our county seat, I’m sure he will welcome ANYONE to participate. Good things are coming – be a part of it.
