Rep. Palmer legislation included in Republican Study Committee’s FY2022 budget proposal
Special to the News
Wednesday, the Republican Study Committee unveiled its FY2022 budget proposal, which includes three provisions based on legislation introduced by Rep. Gary Palmer (AL-06).
The Retirement Freedom Act, the Transparency in Federal Buildings Projects Act, and the Agency Accountability Act were included as part of the budget proposal. Palmer released the following statement:
“I’m glad to see these three bills included in this budget offered by the Republican Study Committee. They are common-sense measures meant to give Americans more control over their own money and personal decisions, which has proven time and time again to result in economic growth,” Palmer said. “The Retirement Freedom Act empowers senior citizens to make their own healthcare decisions, and the Transparency in Federal Buildings Projects and Agency Accountability Acts call for more transparency and oversight in government spending and projects, as well as accounting for all revenue collection. We need a clear path back to fiscal responsibility, and that’s what this budget proposal offers. Our national debt is out of control, and the Biden Administration’s rollback of the Trump Administration’s pro-growth policies is hindering our economy’s return to pre-pandemic health.
“Republicans have already proven that low taxes, less regulation, and economic opportunity are effective, as we saw record low unemployment under the Trump Administration. Those same policies and more are what we’re proposing now,” Palmer concluded. “In contrast to the House Democrats, who have not prepared a budget since they regained the majority, our plan offers a path to balancing the budget, reducing spending, and reducing household tax burdens.”
