Pet of the Week: Shadow
Be Kind to Animals Week
This week’s featured adoptable pet from the Elmore County Humane Shelter is Shadow, a male shepherd mix. He is 8-10 years old, weighing approximately 65 pounds, and is very handsome indeed. Shadow came to the shelter because he was chasing ducks and squirrels. I think most dogs would chase things that are low to the ground and move. I know my dogs would; they bark a lot at wild things, especially after dark.
Shadow is a very loving dog, good with other dogs and cats and also seems fine with children. He walks well on a leash, is calm natured and sits easily on command. He is not a fan of gunfire, but most dogs don’t like the loud noises that tend to just frighten them, not knowing what they are and where they come from.
This is also Be Kind to Animals Week, so if you have a hankering for a sweet loving dog, Shadow just might be the one for you to look at. I know that Birmingham shelters are having a week of adoption to find homes for many displaced animals. It is such a shame that the shelters all around this country are so full with animals that just seem to have been forgotten.
The fee for adopting a dog is still at $100 and includes the mandatory spay/neuter, microchip, basic vaccinations, heartworm test, rabies shot, deworming, and a visit with your participating vet. COVID-19 regulations are still in effect, so fill out the application first then you can get an appointment to visit the animals.
Always show your animals kindness and love. Until next time,
The Dog Lover
