Leave plenty of fresh cool water for pets

Pet of the Week: Brady
The Pet of the Week from the Elmore County Humane Shelter this week is Brady, a 2-year-old male hound mix. Brady is about 65 pounds and was a much loved pet whose owner’s heart was broken when he got orders to serve overseas and would have to leave his dog. Brady was an inside dog, doesn’t like the mud and wet on his feet from outside and is just too cute for a big hound. He is housetrained, great with other dogs and would be a superb running/hiking partner. While he lives inside, Brady has a lot of energy so he needs a big fenced-in yard to romp and roam in, or a lot of good exercise. Brady has not been around children, so no small children please.
The same COVID-19 regulations are still in place at the shelter, so if you’d like to meet Brady or another animal, you will need to complete the application first by emailing hselco@bellsouth.net or calling 334-567-3377. Once the application has been approved you will get an appointment to visit the animals. The adoption fee for dogs is still $100, and that covers mandatory neuter/spay, microchip, rabies shot and basic vaccinations, heartworm test and deworming, plus a visit check-up with your participating veterinarian.
Remember that your dog loves you unconditionally, and a little caring love goes a long way with a dog. Be sure to leave plenty of fresh cold water for the animals; they seem to drink extra with pollen in the air and warming temperatures.
Until next time,
The Dog Lover
