Science is fun!
Submitted by CHS teacher Mary White
Brynli Mitchell performing chemistry molarity lab.
Parker Sanders performing a chemistry lab.
Jamiya Marbury and Kiya McGinnis performing the same chemistry lab.
Physical science students performing the Elephant toothpaste experiment. Pictured from left are Mackenzie Cardwell, Sierra and Tamara Wells, Kieasia Tuck, and Cade Shurette.
Physical science photos:
Physical science has been reviewing chemical bonding (ionic, covalent and metallic), types of chemical reactions and balancing chemical equations following the Law of Conservation of Mass.
The students participated in a chemical change/reaction lab. They were able to observe a demo of Elephant toothpaste in lab. This is the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide with the aid of a catalyst KI (potassium iodide).
They also performed several experiments observing color change, temperature change and precipitate formation.
Chemistry photos:
Chemistry is participating in a molarity, molality and concentration lab. Each student is creating crystals from supersaturated solutions.
They will calculate the molarity of each solution based on the amount of mol per liter solution.
I would also love to give a special mention of Mrs. Shelley Wood’s continued Central High School support and all her help in lab setup. These labs were a great success, and the students learned a lot!
