Dog Bite Prevention Week
Pet of the Week: Carla
The Pet of the Week at Elmore County Humane Shelter is Carla, and she is such a good-looking girl, has lovely coloring and the sweetest smiley face, just perfect for a loving family.
Carla is about 2 years old and came to the shelter as a stray, but was never reclaimed. She is a little petite girl weighing about 30 pounds. A bit shy at first, but super sweet; she likes to be right up under you and walks well on a leash. Carla is great with children, dogs and cats, and she craves attention.
Because of COVID-19 regulations, the lockdown style of visiting still applies. However, if you would like to meet sweet little Carla or any other animals at the shelter, all you have to do is complete an application, and once that is approved you will get an appointment to visit. You can learn the requirements by calling the shelter at 334-567-3377 or emailing hselco@bellsouth.net. The adoption fee is $100 for dogs and covers spay/neuter, heartworm check, microchip, deworming, basic vaccinations, a visit with your participating veterinarian, and priceless information on the animals, as well as paperwork.
The week of April 12 is National Dog Bite Prevention Week. An estimated 85 million dogs live in U.S. households. We must educate ourselves as owners and dedicate time to training our dogs. After all, they cannot be expected to behave properly if they have not been told how to do, just like a child.
Please think about adoption from a shelter first if you want an animal.
Until next time,
The Dog Lover
