The Coosa County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from other agencies, is currently working a case involving a drowning.
Sheriff Michael Howell reported at about 5 p.m. Thursday that his office was working the case. He explained that they responded to a call off of Turkey Trot Lane off of County Road 20, northeast of the Equality community.
The caller reported that an individual had drowned and was still in the water. Howell said other agencies who responded to the scene along with the Sheriff’s Office were Alabama Law Enforcement Agency State Troopers, ALEA Marine Patrol Division, Alexander City Fire and Rescue, Kellyton Fire and Rescue, Equality Volunteer Fire Department, and Tallapoosa County Rescue Squad.
As of Thursday evening Howell said the search remained ongoing to find the body. Stay tuned to the website for updates, and read more about it in next week’s edition.
