Project Lifesaver helpful asset
Hi there! Someone actually told me a buzzard joke last week, and I was so tickled! But then I thought that most people probably either wouldn’t get it or wouldn’t think it was funny. Too bad. And it didn’t work as an owl joke.
I also heard about Project Lifesaver that the county Sheriff’s Office is involved in. At least I think that is the name. Be sure to check out the Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page or their monthly newsletter to read all about it. You should also be able to read about it here in the “News” or on the new electronic news on the web at www.thecoosacountynews.com.
The idea is to provide electronic ID bracelets for older folks that have “lost their way” in order to help locate them in an emergency or when they truly get lost and can’t find their way home. The bracelets are difficult to remove so that they don’t get separated from their person and cause a misleading trail.
Now this may sound mean to some…it is similar technology to that used on criminals on house arrest. It is also similar to technology used on hunting dogs, or perhaps even toddlers in a crowd. But it is not, not, not meant to be punishing or demeaning in any way. It can save lives! It can prevent hypothermia, missed medications, assault, robbery, and all kinds of human ills.
I can be your eye in the sky, but if one of our elders gets lost….nobody listens to a buzzard anyway.
