Volunteer Connections of Central Alabama will be offering free income tax service in Rockford. They will be located in the E-911 building on Communication Drive each Wednesday from 9 to 2 beginning February 3 until April 14. Parking is in the rear of the building. Anyone wanting to get their income tax return prepared needs to bring all the documentation necessary to prepare their return, including a photo ID for the taxpayer and spouse, as well as their prior year tax return. You may call the main location in Alexander City (256-234-0347) for an appointment or more information. Be sure to tell them you are in Coosa County and want an appointment at Rockford.
Coosa County 4-H is having a work day at the 4-H Clubhouse in Hanover on Saturday, March 6, at 10 a.m., to clean up and prepare the yard for spring projects. Please call the 4-H agent for more information at 256-284-3572.
The Equality Volunteer Fire Department is having its monthly first Saturday fundraiser March 6! They will be having hamburgers and hot dogs, a bake sale and a rummage sale in Equality at the old fire station (by the Quality Gas Station) on Highway 9. Lunch is from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., bake sale starts at 8 a.m., and the rummage sale is from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come out and support the Equality VFD!
On March 9, the Alabama Cooperative Extension System will host an Insect Pests of Tomato, Pepper and Eggplant webinar. At this meeting, Extension Vegetable Entomologist Dr. Ayanava Majumdar will discuss the most common pests of these crops. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m. and will end at about 11:30 a.m. (CST). This meeting will be conducted through Zoom, and you must pre-register to attend. The Coosa County Democratic Party will hold a meeting March 25 at 6 p.m. at the E-911 building in Rockford.
May 30-June 11
Registration is now open for Poplar Point Camp’s summer camp! Summer camp will be from May 30 through June 4 for 7-11 year olds and from June 6 through June 11 for 7-11 and 11-18 year olds. The Hanover Neighborhood Watch Meeting is held every third Tuesday of the month at the Hanover Volunteer Fire Department building at 6:30 p.m. Always a meal before the meeting begins. Everyone is cordially invited and encouraged to attend. Y’all come!
